Two independent news sources published within minutes of each other at 00:14 UTC on 18 August 2026 — just before the price move was detected at 00:40 UTC — both confirm RWC's board accepted Brookfield's fourth acquisition proposal at A$4.75/share. A 23.55% surge of 17x the normal daily range is fully consistent with a stock re-rating to a binding takeover offer price. The sector signal (Materials index up ~1.3%) and S&P 500 move (-0.5%) are immaterial by comparison and do not explain the magnitude, leaving the Brookfield bid acceptance as the unambiguous sole driver.
